What is Pilates?
Pilates is a combination
of movements created by Joseph Pilates to give people a way to achieve
“true health.”
The goal of Pilates in creating
“true health” is to build stronger, leaner, more flexible muscles, relieve
stress, and achieve full body well being.
Pilates is focused on increasing
strength through the “core”, or abdominal and back region of your body,
through breathing in combination with movements. Strengthening the “core”
region of your body creates proper body alignment, which in turn creates
a powerful healthy body.
Many entertainers have chosen
to do Pilates to firm up, get fit and create strong, flat abdominal muscles.
Everyone can benefit from
Pilates no matter your exercise level. Inactive people to elite athletes
can benefit from the Pilates method.
What is Yoga?
Yoga is meant to bring the
mind and body together through breathing, exercise and meditation. Yoga
is a nonstrenuous approach to exercise using many different poses that
release stress and increase flexibility. Yoga can also be used to increase
strength to the body in turn creating balance and body alignment. Anyone
can do yoga no matter his or her exercise level.
